Ron Perrault, Principal

Dear Parents and Friends of Tootin' Hills School:

On behalf of our faculty and staff, we extend a warm welcome to Tootin' Hills. Tootin' Hills School is an accepting educational community where adults and children are valued as learners and as people. Our school is an environment in which it’s safe to take risks, to make mistakes and to grow. In this caring atmosphere, students can explore their talents and interests, set individual and group goals, and pursue challenging endeavors. All of us work daily to emulate our adopted character ideals of Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Integrity.

Tootin' Hills School is served by an exceptionally dedicated, capable and caring faculty and staff. We embrace the district philosophy of continuous improvement. Members of our staff are not only dedicated to improving their own professional skills but also to serve as mentors for colleagues and those new to the profession. We recognize the importance of collaboration and communication among faculty. A significant percentage of our teachers have completed training aimed at assisting other educators through Mentor and Cooperating Teacher programs and all faculty members thrive within the Professional Learning Community of their grade level or subject area colleagues. Every adult in this school regards himself or herself as both a teacher and a learner and within these communities strive together to improve their instructional skills and, as a result, the academic achievement of all our students. Across our school district, elementary-level teams are focused on both student achievement and school quality indicators and will gauge our collective success through these measures.

Tootin' Hills students participate in rich educational experiences that promote academic excellence and are interdisciplinary in nature. Activities that foster a cooperative approach to learning and problem-solving are a significant part of the Tootin' Hills experience. We believe in the unlimited potential of students by respecting and developing their unique learning styles and interests. Our commitment to the concept of least restrictive environment is reflected in our ongoing efforts to educate all of our community's students in their home school and in a regular education setting.

We recognize you as our partners. Tootin' Hills School is a place that nurtures and promotes the sense of fellowship so valued by the community it serves. We know that active involvement of family and community members enhances learning experiences for all students. From our community come many volunteers who assist in our classrooms and in the Media Center, create programs that enrich student life, work to beautify our building, grounds and playground, and continually seek ways to improve our school. We are proud of the exceptionally high and active involvement by the Tootin' Hills PTO in our school activities and functions. Most important is the positive, cooperative relationship between the parents, the teachers and the students who work together on a variety of projects including our nationally recognized Project Outreach program. We invite and encourage you to become part of our active volunteer community.

Tootin' Hills School recognizes that it is the coordinated efforts of all of our teachers, parents, students, and staff members that move us along the road of continuous improvement and toward overall program excellence. We look forward to working with you.
