Welcome to the Simsbury Public School’s district website. The award-winning Simsbury Public Schools have a long history of success resulting from the collective commitment of our community, staff members, and students. Our district is composed of seven schools (Simsbury High School, Henry James Memorial School, Central School, Latimer Lane School, Tariffville School, Tootin’ Hills School, and Squadron Line School) with an enrollment of 4,652 students in grades pre-kindergarten through twelve.
As you review the available information on our website, you will find a system deeply devoted to continuous improvement in all aspects of our organization. Our commitment to excellence is driven by The Vision for the Simsbury Public Schools, which states: “We are supported by an exceptional faculty, committed families, and a generous community; we create a safe and supportive environment that fosters deep and enduring personal relationships. Above all else, we prepare our students to embrace their lives with integrity, compassion, and resilience, enabling them to act knowledgably, lead thoughtfully, share generously, and contribute meaningfully.”
Simsbury’s public schools provide a rich and rigorous academic foundation required of students in an ever-evolving society. We have a proven track record of outstanding academic achievement across the disciplines. Our curriculum focuses on 21st century skill development by emphasizing problem solving, critical and creative thinking, artistic expression, physical/emotional wellness, and an appreciation of diversity. Last year was an incredible year of student and staff achievement, and every year in late fall, we publish a synopsis of accomplishments in our Annual Report. You can also stay on top of the news by signing up to receive our school newsletters via email. Just click on the “Email Notification” tab on the lefthand side of each school website.
We celebrate the many achievements of our students in academics, the arts, and athletics while cultivating personal relationships through the development of positive school climate programs. Our schools foster an environment focused on respect, responsibility, and demonstrating compassion for others. In addition, students are encouraged to discover their individual talents and interests through participation in our substantial extracurricular offerings.
Our Strategic Plan is indicative of our focus on improvement, goal setting, and accountability. It clearly outlines our district wide goals, priorities, and indicators of success. The Strategic Plan also serves as the foundation for our budgeting process. Our budgets are strategic and efficient, supporting our district-wide goals and initiatives.
Our esteemed faculty represents the best in current practices and pride themselves on a collaborative approach and dedication to job-embedded professional development. It is through our highly committed teacher teams that instructional practices are refined and implemented with the aim to meet the needs of all our students.
I am privileged to lead this high-achieving district that is representative of the collective efforts of an entire community and its stakeholders. We take tremendous pride in the vast accomplishments of our students, faculty, and quality programs. As your new Superintendent of Schools, I look forward to seeking input and feedback relative to our efforts to fulfill the mission and vision of the Simsbury Public Schools and build upon the inherent strengths and achievements of our community, students, and schools. Please feel free to forward your questions or comments to firstname.lastname@example.org.
