Squadron Line Elementary School is a place in which students, staff, administrators, parents/guardians, and the community of Simsbury work together in a supportive partnership. We act as a team to ensure that every child develops the skills necessary for life long learning in a positive, inclusive environment. We collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that our credo “We all SHINE at Squadron Line!” is a reality for all students.
"We Will Always Shine"
Continuous improvement is at the core of our work as a district and a school. We are committed to creating a community of engaged learners. Each year, we identify school goals and action plans that focus our efforts on enhancing our teaching practices. Our dedicated teachers meet weekly as Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to collectively analyze student work and share instructional strategies aimed to enrich the academic performance of all students.
We understand that if students are going to be successful, in addition to mastering a rigorous curriculum, they need to learn skills that will allow them to succeed in a rapidly changing society. Our work throughout the school year focuses on achieving Simsbury’s mission of developing all students’ ability to problem solve, think critically, work collaboratively, express themselves creatively, and communicate effectively. We celebrate each individual’s talents, knowledge, and skills as well as the essential character traits of Respect, Responsibility, and Kindness. SHINE, our highly effective character education program, augments our ability to prepare our students to act knowledgeably, lead thoughtfully, share generously, and contribute meaningfully as global citizens.
The success of Squadron Line School is dependent upon the collaborative efforts of the entire school community. We recognize that success is maximized when there is active involvement from students, parents, guardians, teachers, administrators. By working together, we continually accomplish our goal of providing students with the experiences they need so that each child successfully achieves across the curriculum, in an environment characterized by respect, responsibility, kindness, and mutual support.
